Chiang Mai is a wonderful place to live. It's a small vibrant city with everything you need from the conveniences of major shopping centres such as Central Festival, movie cinemas, wonderful restaurants and bars, coffee shops yet it still retains much of the old traditional culture and charms. Traditional local markets and temples still remain along side modern supermarkets and 7-11 stores.

If you'd like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, nature is only half an hour or so away. Drive up the mountains to Doi Suthep, Doi Saket or Mae Rim or ride through the rice fields close to the city. In Chiang Mai, you'll enjoy visiting many waterfalls, national parks or take short trips to places like Chiang Dao, Pai and Chiang Rai.

Chiang Mai has 3 distinct seasons - cool, hot and rainy.
Cool Season - October to February. This is a lovely time of the year where the temperature is cooler. Night time temperature could go as low as 15°C and day time temperature around 25-28°C. This is a very popular time of the year for tourists to visit.
Hot Season - March to June. Daytime temperature range from as 30-40°C. March is the month where Chiang Mai's sky becomes hazy due to crop burning and forest fires. April is the hottest month of the year. Generally, there is very little or no rain during the hot season, but sometimes, there can be summer storms which bring relief from the heat.
Rainy Season - July - September. Despite the name, most of the time, it usually only rains an hour or so each day. Occasionally, there could be periods of longer rain. This is a beautiful time of the year where the countryside becomes lush and green.
